Tato část ISO 16634 specifikuje metodu pro stanovení celkového obsahu dusíku a výpočet obsahu hrubého proteinu v olejninách a krmivech. Tato metoda, stejně jako Kjeldahlova metoda, nerozlišuje mezi bílkovinným dusíkem a nebílkovinným dusíkem. Pro výpočet obsahu proteinu, se použijí různé přepočtové koeficienty (viz příloha D). Tato metoda není použitelná pro mléko a mléčné produkty, pro které je specifikována metoda v ISO 14891
