1. Scope | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1.1 This specification covers non-asbestos fiber-cement pipe intended for use in storm-water drainage of highways, airports, farms, foundations, and other similar drainage systems. 1.2 The values stated in either inch-pound units or SI units are to be regarded separately as standard. Within the text, the SI units are shown in brackets. The values stated in each system are not exact equivalents; therefore each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in nonconformance with the specification. Note1—Experience has shown that the successful performance of this product depends upon the proper selection of the pipe strength, the type of bedding and backfill, care that the installation conforms to the construction specifications, and provision for adequate inspection at the construction site. This specification does not include requirements for bedding, backfill, the relationship between field load conditions and the strength designation of the pipe, or durability. These requirements should be included in the project specification. 1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. |
