Tato evropská norma je částí skupiny norem jejíž podrobné rozdělení je uvedeno v EN ISO 15607:2003, příloze A. Tato norma stanovuje způsob kvalifikace předběžné specifikace postupu svařování zkouškami postupu svařování. Tato norma definuje podmínky pro provádění zkoušek postupu svařování hliníku a jeho slitin, rozsah kvalifikace pro postupy svařování pro všechny praktické svářečské operace v oblasti proměnných, uvedených v kapitole 8.
