Tato část IEC 1068 stanoví požadavky na tkanice tkané na bezčlunkových stavech z kontinuálních polyesterových vláken. Tato norma se vztahuje na tkanice s jmenovitou tloušťkou 0,13 mm až 0,25 mm a s jmenovitou šířkou 15 mm, 20 mm a 25 mm. Norma specifikuje standardní kombinace jmenovitých tlouštěk a jmenovitých šířek. Dále specifikuje označování tkanic, které sice splňují většinu požadavků této části normy, avšak jsou dodávány v nestandardních šířkách. Tato část uvádí definice, označení a všeobecné požadavky. Další části IEC 1068 jsou: - Část 2: Zkušební metody - Část 3: Specifikace jednotlivých materiálů
