Norma platí pro pneumostatické mechanismy a prvky s jmenovitým tlakem od 0,16 do 1,6 MPa. Jsou normalizovány všeobecné požadavky, postupy měření a ve zvláštní - velmi stručné - kapitole 3 i požadavky na bezpečnost. (Odkazuje se v nich především na ČSN 10 9005.) V kapitole o měření je v čl.2.10 požadováno měření hladiny akustického výkonu, a to při měření v 1. třídě přesnosti podle ČSN 01 1604 a ČSN 01 1605 a při měření v 2. třídě přesnosti podle ČSN 01 1606. ČSN 10 9008 byla schválena 14.5.1991 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.5.1992
