Norma udává technické požadavky pro konstrukci světelných volacích zařízení a dorozumívacích zařízení, používaných zejména ve zdravotnických objektech, hotelích, popř. v jiných podnicích občanské výstavby. Pro rozvody vedení k těmto zařízením platí ČSN 34 2300. Norma platí pro zařízení vyvíjená po její účinnosti a pro zařízení dovážená. ČSN 34 2720 byla schválena 20.2.1968 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.1.1969. Nahradila ČSN 36 5221 z 24.1.1956
