Norma platí pro kompenzaci indukčního výkonu při 50 Hz pro zlepšení účinku (cos fí) statickými kondenzátory. Norma přímo neřeší bezpečnostní požadavky; obsahuje jen technické údaje. ČSN 33 3080 byla schválena 13.3.1978 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.2.1979. Nahradila ČSN 38 0710 z roku 1972. "Změnou a)-9/1982" se s účinností od 1.1.1983 doplňuje nový čl.2.5.1.3, který se týká jištění kondenzátorů a nevýznamně mění text vysvětlivky v příloze 2.
